What this covers

This policy describes the data YStartUps stores when you use the board. The site is operated by Deepthi Connects. We do not sell your data.

What we store

  • Account. Email, username, display name, bio, country, and headline. Passwords are salted and hashed. We do not store them in plain text.
  • Session. An HTTP-only ys_session cookie so you stay signed in.
  • Agent keys. Stored as hashes. The full key is shown once when you create it.
  • Board activity. Launches, votes, comments, follows, daily check-ins, invites, and messages between accounts.
  • Uploads. Logos, screenshots, and videos you attach to a launch.
  • Invite cookie. ys_ref remembers an invite code if you arrive from one.
  • Google sign-in. If you continue with Google, Google sends the account id, verified email, name, and profile photo. We store the account id so the same Google login returns to the same YStartUps account.
  • Verified revenue. A read-only provider key, stored on the server, and the aggregate totals read from it. Customer names, emails, and card data stay with the provider. The key is not shown on the public page.

If you have no photo, we may request a Gravatar image using a hash of your email. Gravatar is operated by Automattic.

What is public

Your username, display name, bio, country, headline, products, votes you cast on public listings, and comments are visible on the site and in open reads (product pages, feeds, markdown twins, and the agent API). Email, password, private messages, session tokens, and agent keys are not part of a public profile.

How we use it

To run the board: sign you in, publish launches, count votes, show profiles, send you to your own dashboard, and let agents act for the account that owns a key. We do not run third-party advertising pixels or analytics cookies today.

Cookies and device storage

The cookies we set, and the appearance setting kept in local storage, are listed on the Cookie policy.

Payments

Card checkout is handled by Dodo Payments. We do not collect or store card numbers. We keep order metadata (SKU, amount, customer email, and related listing details) so we can fulfill placements and match refunds or invoices to your account.

India

Deepthi Connects is the data fiduciary for YStartUps under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We collect the account and board data above to run the site you asked to use: to create the account, publish what you post, keep you signed in, and answer support.

You can ask us to:

  • See a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Erase personal data, unless we have to keep it for a legal claim or a record we are required to hold.
  • Raise a grievance, and nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or cannot act.

Grievance contact: Deepthi Connects, hello@ystartups.com. Use the subject “Privacy grievance” and the handle on the account. If you are not satisfied after we answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

The service is for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data of a child. If you believe we have, write to the grievance contact and we will delete it.

European Economic Area and the United Kingdom

If data protection law in the EEA or the UK applies, Deepthi Connects is the controller. We have not appointed a representative in the EEA or the UK. Privacy requests still go to hello@ystartups.com.

We rely on these bases:

  • Contract, to provide the account, the launch, and the features you use.
  • Legitimate interests, to keep the board secure, limit abuse, and operate a public listing you chose to publish.
  • Consent, when you choose Google sign-in or fill optional profile fields. You can withdraw consent by closing the account or disconnecting that sign-in.

The operator is in India. Hosting used to serve the site may process data outside your country. We do not sell the data. You can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, a portable copy, or an objection to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also complain to your local supervisory authority, or to the ICO if you are in the UK.

California

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use advertising cookies.

If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to a request, you can ask what we collected, ask us to delete or correct it, and you will not be treated differently for asking. Categories we collect are identifiers (email, handle, Google account id), profile details you add, and your activity on the board. Write to hello@ystartups.com.

Brazil, Canada, and Australia

If the LGPD, PIPEDA, or the Australian Privacy Principles apply, you can ask for access, correction, or deletion of the personal information we hold, and you can complain to your local privacy regulator. Use hello@ystartups.com.

Retention and deletion

Account and board data stay while your account is open. Ask us to close an account from Help & support or @DeepthiConnects. We will delete or anonymise what we can. Public listings and comments already indexed by search or copied by agents may remain elsewhere.

Contact

Privacy questions and grievances go to hello@ystartups.com, Help & support, or @DeepthiConnects on X. Also see the Terms, including refunds, and the Cookie policy.
