What we use

YStartUps sets a small number of first-party cookies so the board works. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies today. Appearance (light or dark) is stored in the browser, not as a cookie.

Cookies we set

  • ys_session. Keeps you signed in. HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax, path /, about 30 days. Secure on HTTPS. Required for voting, launching, and your dashboard.
  • ys_ref. Remembers an invite code if you arrive with one. SameSite=Lax, about 30 days. Not used for advertising.
  • ys_google_state. Set only while a Google sign-in is in progress, so the return from Google matches the request that started it. HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax, about 10 minutes, then deleted.
  • ys_gsc_state. Set only while connecting Google Search Console to a startup, so the return matches that startup. HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax, about 10 minutes, then deleted.

The app may also set a first-party cookie if you collapse or expand a sidebar in a layout that uses it. The host platform (for example Vercel) may set its own technical cookies.

Not a cookie

Light and dark appearance is saved as ystartups.appearance in local storage so the next visit matches your last choice.

Country rules

These cookies are strictly necessary to sign you in, finish Google sign-in, or remember an invite you opened. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no consent banner.

  • EEA and the UK. Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent under the ePrivacy rules. If that changes, this page and a banner will say so before a non-essential cookie is set.
  • India. The notice for this storage is this page and the India section of the privacy policy.
  • California. We do not sell or share personal information collected through cookies.

How to control them

You can block or delete cookies in the browser. If you block ys_session, you will be treated as signed out. Clearing local storage resets appearance to the default.

Changes

If we add analytics or a cookie banner later, this page will say so. Questions: hello@ystartups.com, Help & support, or @DeepthiConnects. See also Privacy and Terms.
